Thinglink embed test

And once again, even using the iframe, wordpress does not play with embed code from Thinglink. It’s very limited that way

//www.thinglink.com/card/908380247060119555
//cdn.thinglink.me/jse/embed.js

OK, the pix came thru using the embed code given by thinglink but not the interactive icons on the pix

here’s the link to Thinglink photo of my class in the works

Testing data chart embed from city of Boston

Will this code work in free wordpress?  It does after I embedded it. In a draft. Now let’s see what happens when I publish it.

Nope, keeps coming up with link only

Finally found the answer. It can’t be done with unauthorized embed code for security reasons in the “shared” WordPress environment.  I had long known that some embed code wouldn’t work.  And that’s why.  More re this

Certain types are allowed, and WordPress has a list here.

This sourcecode add-on will allow you to see all the code

<div style="position: relative; width: 500px; height: 425px; max-width: 600px;">

<a href="https://data.cityofboston.gov/w/vwgc-k7be/?cur=AKbupfK9fPt&amp;from=root">https://data.cityofboston.gov/w/vwgc-k7be/?cur=AKbupfK9fPt&amp;from=root</a>

Meanwhile, here's the chart, saved as a screenshot, then converted to an image file and uploaded into Media Gallery.

Red Sox Opening Day 2017: Testing Banjo Web Widget

Screenshot of Banjo map and social media posts at 10:45 am, 4/3/17, on Red Sox Opening Day.  Click on the map to go to the live Banjo page focusing on Fenway area.

Well, it must be spring.

It’s Red Sox Opening Day in Boston, and I’m using the occasion to test the Banjo real-time social media filter based on geographic location.

I’ve created a Web widget that circles in on social media posts re Opening Day in a region around Fenway.   Let’s see if it works in this version of WordPress.

OK, I see it here in my draft.

Now, let’s see what happens when I preview and publish.

Umm, not showing in preview except as a link.  Now I will publish.

OK, only shows as a link when I publish. and when I come BACK to this post — the image version has disappeared and I see just the link. This happened before when I did an embed.  Grrr.

Well, as a text preview, this link is bringing me to a slideshow of photos.  I’m assuming they are being uploaded in real time, tho I did start capturing them at 8 am today and will do so til 11:30 pm.   I could reset that start time and see what happens.

Also, I want to see the MAP showing where posting activity is high. And I want to see better who’s posting. So going back in to get that URL.

Here’s the MAP URL — get an overview, then click on the Fenway area to see specific Red Sox postings. Explore in detail by opening it up and/or going to column atleft of screen. You can see users, which platforms they are on, etc.

Practice with facebook live

Here’s a practice video for purposes of portrait mode vs. Horizontal and audio quality. This one was done holding the phone vertically.

Second practice, holding phone horizontally and speaking louder. A better result

Third practice.  With earbuds in the phone jack. Seems to be better audio. But I also upped the volume for media and system on my phone first.  Also tested filters, which you can switch as you go.

And I really like that the link to the FB live video that i copied shows up automatically when I use the hypertext link feature for this blog post

Video: Feeding time at the farm

Decided to practice with Adobe Spark, as recommended by BU prof Michelle Johnston, for quick and easy video making. She was right!

Tip: Spark provided the embed code. But to make it show in this WordPress post, I needed to insert it into the “text” view.

https://spark.adobe.com/video/1TWwUhp3Z9ZKS/embed

OK, that is weird. When I did this first time, I saw the video inside the post. Now, i’m just seeing the URL. ummm.  I did do an edit. Maybe I need to wait and/or refresh.

It also might be because I chose to put this on the privacy setting, which adds a no-index tag to the post to block search engine robots . Tho if you have the URL, you can see it.

And it appears that there is no mobile app – yet — for Android users – like me –  tho it can be installed on any desktop.

Photo gallery test using media library

This way of adding Instagram pix to WordPress worked

Just put the URL for the instagram pix in here http://your and add the code to your blog post — in visual view is fine

Nice for single pix but for galleries …
